Public Hearing

See below for the case information for the upcoming Public Hearing.   The Public Hearing packet containing details for each case will be published one week prior to the Historic Preservation Commission Meeting and can be downloaded by clicking on the "Packet" link under the date.

The Boone Historic Preservation Commission will meet on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. This meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held remotely via WebEx, a video conferencing software but may transition to an in-person meeting at Council Chambers at 1500 Blowing Rock Road due to any change in Covid protocols. A final decision on the meeting type/location will be made no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the meeting and will be announced on the Town of Boone’s website at www.townofboone.net. Interested parties may also call the Town of Boone Planning and Inspections Department at 828-268-6960 for more up-to-date info.

To participate in the meeting:  Individuals who wish to give testimony or other evidence with respect to this case may do so through WebEx, the video conferencing software, either online (by computer or smartphone) or by telephone.  To do so, please email Jane Shook, Director of Planning & Inspections at jane.shook@townofboone.net or call in at 828-268-6960 and you will be provided with an email invitation to the meeting.  All requests for participation must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.  Individuals who require user assistance registering or joining the WebEx event on the day/night of the meeting can call 828-268-6960 for support. 

Staff will be happy to schedule a test meeting with each participant to ensure that they are able to participate the night of the meeting.   Please call Jane Shook at 828-268-6960 if you are interested in this option.

The following cases will be on the agenda:

Case Z05382-121421 Welcome to the High-Country Mural:  Amber Bateman, on behalf of Watauga County Arts Council, has filed an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for Major Work to install a work of art on the side of the building located at 182 Howard Street.  

Case Z05383-121521 Collette-Woodruff PC:  Jenny Collette, on behalf of Collette-Woodruff, PC, has filed an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for Major Work requesting to install a sign at 191 Howard Street.  

Cases Z05384-121521, Z05388-121721 & Z05389-121721 Venture Chocolate & Wine Company:   Josiah Davis, on behalf of Venture Chocolate & Wine Bar Co., has filed an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for Major Work to install three signs on the building located at 287 Howard Street and 605 W. King Street.
