The Town of Boone is committed to sustainability. With the adoption of ambitious goals, we are pursuing climate neutrality and addressing climate change. 

In 2016, the Town of Boone Town Council adopted the Resolution to Support the State Goal of 100% Clean Energy by 2050 (PDF). In 2019, the Town clarified their goals by adopted the Resolution to Clarify Town of Boone Goals to Combat Climate Change (PDF). Those goals are as follows:

  • Climate neutrality in municipal operations by 2030
  • Transition municipal operations to 100% clean renewable energy by 2040
  • Transition the entire town of Boone to 100% clean renewable energy by 2050
